BBVA SA (BBVA.xmad) is a Spanish multinational banking and financial services provider headquartered in Madrid and Bilbao, Spain. It is one of the largest financial institutions globally and is present mainly in South America, North America, Spain, Romania, Turkey, and the unrecognized Turkish state of Northern Cyprus. BBVA SA operates 7,963 offices, has 123,174 employees, 35.6 million digital customers, 32.8 million mobile customers, and is present in more than 30 countries. BBVA SA (BBVA.xmad) is traded on the Madrid Stock Exchange (BMAD), the New York Stock Exchange, and the Mexican Stock Exchange (BMV). BBVA manages €736.3B (EUR) in total assets and its current market cap is €38.17B (EUR). In January 2021, BBVA was looking to lower the costs, a month later, it was reported that BBVA was planning to lay off 3000 jobs in Spain after a fall of 48% of its net profit in the fourth quarter of 2020. It took nine months for the Spanish bank to recover its share price since the crash of Mach 2020, in the same year BBVA USA was sold to PNC Financial Services for $11.6B (USD).
